The Sugar Britches designers are the beating heart of our operation -- a one-of-a-kind assembly of smart, sassy creatives who can transform ordinary clothes and fabrics into extraordinary fashion. Get to know them below.

Being drawn to strong colors, mixed textures, naturally occurring shapes and experimentation, sewing is where I've found myself. I make items that have a function. And I create them from an artistic standpoint. I think my individuality comes through my work pretty clearly - my quirkiness, sense of humor, and rawness. I'm having some serious fun ♡ And I hope others enjoy it as much as I do.

I've lived a lot of lives in my good time here on Mother Earth. I'm a painter, musician, jewelry-maker and fabric artist. I spend hours sourcing materials to upcycle, reimagine and recreate into new works of wearable beauty. I'm dedicated to using my art to work with what already exists, in a small attempt to reduce waste and save high-quality materials from the landfill.

I have lived in Asheville for over twenty years and love the fabric and texture artist community that thrives here. As former owner of The Costume Shoppe, I've met many local costume and fashion creators as well as designers and costumers traveling through. I create in my studio at The Mill at Riverside in Woodfin and anywhere I can take my needle, thread, paint and found embellishments. I feel incredibly lucky to have so many opportunities to create, be challenged and especially to share the world of fiber art with the talented artists at Sugar Britches.

I have been costuming my whole life, beginning with making dance performance costumes alongside my grandmother as a child. I then entered my "second childhood," upon magically landing in a colorful artist community in the 1990s and more recently, in Asheville where I've been a part of the Mardi Gras scene for nearly a decade now with a family of funky friends. The costuming continues on almost a weekly basis, as does the infinite hunt for interesting and fun clothing and partywear. I enjoy creating original headdresses of all sizes, styles, colors and for every occasion for myself and others, by commission. You'll enjoy discovering all of these found and embellished treasures, including accessories and head and footwear, within my booth at Sugar Britches. I am thrilled and easily awed being in the mix with such talented and vibrant fellow-style-creators. Motto: We will transform that over-rated phrase, "Where will I ever wear this?" into a resounding and sparkly, "Why not?" or "Hell yes!"
